ConverEDGE

# Connect machine data with industrial intelligence.

ConverEDGE is VIEOX’s industrial data platform, built around operational technology. It is designed to bring machine connectivity, operating context and useful information together for the people responsible for industrial performance.

Its focus spans equipment, production lines and plant operations. Industrial IoT can extend the available observations, while the operating task determines which connections, records and views are useful.

From machine data to operational intelligence

## An industrial data foundation, grounded in OT.

Industrial data platforms are useful when information retains its connection to the physical process. A value needs an equipment identity, a time reference and a meaning that the people doing the work recognise.

ConverEDGE communicates directly with shop-floor devices through suitable available interfaces. Its role is to make that information useful across operational teams. A first evaluation establishes the supported connections and the context required for production, quality, maintenance or a defined AI task.

Illustrative workflow

1. Machine data

   ### What can the equipment tell us?

Identify the readings and events available through the agreed interfaces.

2. Operating context

   ### What does each record mean?

Keep equipment identity, time, units and relevant conditions with the information.

3. Operational intelligence

   ### Which decision does this support?

Use current views and recorded activity to focus a production, quality or operations review.

Machine data → operating context → operational intelligenceAn explanation of the working approach, with no live data.

Current conditions. Recorded activity.

## The present, with context. The past, in perspective.

Current conditions

### A clearer view of the present

Build an industrial monitoring view around the task: production activity, process conditions or equipment behaviour. Define the required freshness and make the age of the information clear to the operator or supervisor using it.

Recorded activity

### Context from the past

Return to the production period that matters. Industrial analytics needs the surrounding machine state, product, process and time context to help people investigate a change or interruption.

Designed around the work

## Understand information in context

Keep the practical questions visible: which equipment produced the record, when it was captured, what it means and who maintains its definition. Data integrity and evidence depend on retaining that context as information moves between teams and systems.

### Information matched to responsibility

An operator, maintenance engineer and manager may need different views of the same operation. ConverEDGE’s design centres on information relevant to each person’s work and operating area, within the organisation’s rules for access and use.

An illustrative situation

## One production change. Different questions.

In this illustrative situation, output falls after a product changeover. Production, quality, engineering and management need different parts of the same operating record.

The connected record helps the team examine the change and agree the next check.

A defined starting point

## Start with one operating question.

Choose a concern your team already recognises. We can explore the information that would make it easier to understand and decide whether a focused ConverEDGE evaluation makes sense.

1. ### Define the operating task

Identify the machine, process or production area and what a connected view should help your team understand or decide.

2. ### Review connectivity & context

Establish the available interfaces, records and access permissions, alongside equipment identity, timing and operating constraints.

3. ### Agree a useful evaluation

Define data quality checks, the proposed deployment scope and how the team will judge the result for its operating task.

The scope to agree

- One operating question

- A defined operating area

- The information available

- A way to judge usefulness

The aim is a clear first scope: the question to answer, the operating area involved and how your team will judge usefulness.

Machine connectivity in practice

## Start with the data your equipment can share.

Explore how to collect data from PLCs and other shop-floor devices, where edge computing can fit, and what context the records need before they reach dashboards or AI. A connectivity evaluation establishes the available interfaces and the appropriate scope.

What is ConverEDGE?

ConverEDGE is VIEOX’s industrial data platform. It connects our OT focus with machine information, operating context and industrial analytics for production, quality, maintenance and operations.

Who is it designed for?

Its focus includes production, maintenance, quality and operational management teams. The starting point is the information each person needs to understand their equipment, process or operating area.

Where should an evaluation begin?

Choose one operating question and a defined area, such as a piece of equipment, a process or a production line. We can discuss the information available, the people who would use it and what a useful result would help them do.

What would an evaluation need to establish?

It should establish whether the relevant information can be made useful for the chosen question, what limitations need attention and how the team will assess the result. Equipment, data access and operating requirements form part of that discussion before a scope is agreed.

How does this relate to an industrial AI initiative?

Clear, usable operating information is a useful starting point when exploring or reviewing an AI application. Our industrial AI readiness perspective sets out questions about data, evaluation and human responsibility to bring to that discussion.

How do OT and IoT fit together?

Our starting point is operational technology: the equipment, processes and responsibilities already present in the operation. IoT solutions can add sensing and connected assets where these serve a defined requirement. The project scope establishes how those observations join the existing industrial data.

Where does condition monitoring fit?

Condition monitoring is one application of the wider OT data foundation. We plan to offer a module for equipment review alongside our broader focus on production, quality, operational coordination and AI readiness. Availability, required measurements and the proposed scope should be discussed for your operating task.

Can we discuss edge computing and industrial interoperability?

Yes. A connectivity evaluation should establish which interfaces are available, where collection or processing should run, and how records retain their meaning between systems. We agree that scope around the equipment, access and operational requirements; specific protocols and deployment capabilities need to be confirmed for the proposed solution.
